Take it to the next level with these classes! Our classes offer dancers a disciplined, yet encouraging learning environment. Develop endurance and dedication, while focusing on technique, self-expression, and performance.

Advancement is based on correct placement, skill mastery, and instructor recommendation-not by age-which means all classes have a variety of age levels.  Ages listed are a guide to help to find correct placement.

junior Ballet

(Ages 10-13)

A classic dance form with specific terminology, technique, and choreography.  Ballet class is highly structured and regimented due to the classical technique that must be fostered and perfected. Class begins by warming up at the barre, and then continues to center floor, followed by linking together combinations across the floor.  Class typically ends with a curtsy or bow to show respect to the teacher.

pointe

(Ages 12 and up)

Ballet performed in pointe shoes. Dancers must have completed extensive work in ballet and demi-pointe to enroll in this class. Students are admitted to go up on pointe when recommended by the pointe teacher. Students are evaluated on coordination, posture, strength, and feet. There is an inherent risk going up on pointe, therefore, we will only recommend those students who are developmentally ready to begin pointe work. Pointe Technique class is for dancers age 12 and up, who are in Jr or Sr Ballet and Contemporary Ballet. Requires enrollment in two Ballet classes, in addition to pointe.

contemporary ballet

(Ages 13 to adutl)

This class follows our traditional ballet classes, while incorporating contemporary movement and improvisation into the class. Students will continue to develop their ballet technique, while gaining confidence through self expression.

SENIOR BALLET

(Ages 13 to adult)

junior jazz

(Ages 10-13)

A rhythmic, stylized dance conceived in America and influenced by jazz music. Jazz combines an erect spine and formal dance patterns of Europe with rhythmic, flat-footed, bent kneed influences from African cultures. Class starts with a proper warm-up, continues with isolations, balance, flexibility stretches, floor progressions, and choreography.  Students should expect a high energy class with upbeat music with a strong emphasis on jazz technique.

junior Contemporary

(Ages 10-13)

A fluid style of jazz that blends classical European ballet and modern movement. Dancers are taught to express themselves through movement by interpreting the lyrics of a song. Class focuses on ballet and jazz technique, as well as choreography.

teen tap

(Ages 12-18)

Tap is a form of dance in which the feet create rhythmic sounds. Intermediate Tap continues to build upon steps from Elementary Tap. Class warm-up begins in the center, followed by stationary movements to enhance sound clarity, and recognizing rhythm patterns.  Students will practice traveling movements across the floor and will continue to build upon single, double, and triple sounds.  Class concludes with a combination that reiterates the steps taught previously.

junior Hip-Hop

(Ages 10-13)

A style of dance primarily performed to hip hop music that incorporates street dance, characteristics of African dance, and freestyle. It redefines and reinvents many early vernacular jazz dances and movements. It includes a wide range of styles including breaking (popping/locking/toprock/uprock) which was created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. New school hip hop includes krumping, liquid dancing, gliding, tutting, and power moves. This class is always a favorite!

TEEN HIP-HOP

(Ages 12-18)

A style of dance primarily performed to hip hop music that incorporates street dance, characteristics of African dance, and freestyle.  It redefines and reinvents many early vernacular jazz dances and movements.  It includes a wide range of styles including breaking (popping/locking/toprock/uprock) which was created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.  New school hip hop includes krumping, liquid dancing, gliding, tutting, and power moves. This class is always a favorite!

musical theater

(Ages 6-12)

Students will work on singing, dancing, and acting in this fast paced class! This is the perfect class for young aspiring actors to see what all goes into making a show happen! They will build their acting skills through theater games and improv exercises, as well as learning choreography and lyrics from Broadway shows!

ACRO

(Ages 6-18)

Work on strength, flexibility, and tumbling in this fast moving class! Students will progress at their own pace, working on skills appropriate for their level. Students must be able to do a front limber (handstand to bridge to standing) to sign up for this class.

Registration in classes requires a $40 membership fee for the season.
